About your trainer
Hi, I’m Meghan! Growing up I was always someone who dabbled in team sports and fitness classes. When it came to the gym atmosphere, heavy weights and equipment were intimidating to me, which held me back from using them.
Unfortunately, I was also someone who was regularly in and out of various doctor’s offices. By the age of 20, I was told that I had arthritis. The feeling of chronic pain was exhausting. It took all my energy just to get through an eight hour work day, let alone do anything else in my free time. Fast forward to the age of 30, I was finally diagnosed with a rare disease called Scleroderma. The missing piece to all my symptoms over the years. Doctors told me to “stay healthy” as there is very little research and known treatments to help manage my daily symptoms.
I realized just how important it is to take care of my body, which led me back into the gym. My love of fitness and physical activity was re-ignited, and my mindset was completely altered. I went from the idea of “needing to lose weight” to loving the fact that I could challenge my body through strength training. Some exercises are not safe for me or simply too difficult based on my disease symptoms. However, I now have the knowledge to modify these exercises to overcome my own limitations and continue to achieve my goals.
My workouts also provided me with peacefulness; mentally, emotionally, and physically. The gym became a sanctuary where I could focus solely on myself. Now I am in the best physical shape that I ever have been! As an added bonus, my joint pain has decreased, my energy levels are higher than ever, and the added confidence boost is a nice perk!
I now want to help others overcome the same fears, struggles, and limitations. We only have one life, why not be healthy enough to truly enjoy and live it!
